We WON!!! and a little wisdom

watchin the match Germany vs. England at church yesterday was quite intense. and a lot of fun.. with each new goal the cheers seemed to get wilder and even more excited... they (and we) were on fire! :) 4:1 or 4:2 as it should have been! Nice goin!!

right now i'm goin thru my 'SOMD' notes and i stumbled across this little piece of wisdom and kinda felt like sharing it with you.
It was during Glenn Sheppard week, he had been talkin about Pride and how one definition of pride is to think more of you than God thinks of you... later on after the teaching we got a study hall assignment of writing down what God had shown us thru Glenn's teaching.
Doing this sorta triggered an old question for me - what if you think less of you than God thinks of you? Isn't that also putting your opinion of yourself above Gods opinion of you?
I remember hearing someone explain this once and it really convicted me. How many times do I say "No, God, I'm not that good or worth that much"... so basically I am saying I am right and He (God) is wrong, which is false humility also know as pride!
It broke me, because it made me realize how mcuh hurt I cause Jesus, just by not accepting who He made me to be. When all i want to do is to bless Him, glorify Him, bring joy to His heart...

anyway, i hope this encourages you to see you for who God made you to be! He loves you and me more than we will ever know or be able to understand..

back in Germany..

the flight over was one of the smoothest trips I've ever had!
Except for the fact that I had to pay an horrendous amount of money for my overweight luggage, in fact I ended up having to buy an extra duffle bag, because as it turns out it is cheaper to take a second suitcase ($50) than to simply have an overweight luggage ($150)..
still other than that it was great. I met a bunch of people, some of whom just randomly started talking to me others I started talking to - like at the gate while waiting for my boarding pass to be ready I sat down next to this elderly couple when I noticed they had little 'Vantage' information-packages. So of course, I had to find out where they were going.

For those of you who dont know this... Vantage is a River Cruise Company just like Viking River Cruises the company I worked for last summer, our competitors so to say and well many times when i was at the airport picking up our passengers i would meet people heading for a Vantage cruise, but we also had some of the same destinations and sometimes we would even double-dock, meaning we'd dock next to each other and whoever was on the second ship had to go through the first one in order to get a-shore. As it turned out this time they were headed for Croatia but they had been on the Grand European Tour from Amsterdam-Budapest (the one i was on last year) before - twice actually, once in each direction... fun fun
The flight seemed amazingly short, maybe it had something to do with my entertainment system working for once :) and service and food were good, too. Only downer i never got to close my eyes, for some reason i just didnt get tired, but the minute, I am telling you, the minute i sat down on the train takin me home from the airport - i was out, well, almost out... my luggage kept falling over and waking me up... guess, i still am a railroad-chick after all :)

I've been back for round about 30 hours now... everything still feels kind of weird. I guess, it's gonna take me a bit to get re-adjusted. But at least, i've managed to catch a few hours of sleep - 11 to be precise, cant remember the last time i slept this long. :)
still its good to be back... seeing family and friends again. Saw a bunch of people last night, they just happened to have their monthly church board meeting at our house - due to my mom still being on crutches.
Tonight they are showing our next world cup match (Germany vs. Ghana) on a big screen at our church, so i'll be able to see even more people there. Cant wait and i am sooo excited for the match - it is really all or nothing now.
Other than that the only things 'planned' for this week are getting my senses and bearings back, meeting and catching up with more people and developing an 'action plan' for this summer. I tryed earlier today, but I had to give up -for now, because I was still to out of it :D

Btw. the weather here is gorgeous at the moment.. blue skies, bright sunshine with 77-80 degrees outside - lovely; warm - without the sweat running down your face like a waterfall ;)

I'll keep you posted

1. International Night

at YWAM Orlando. Last night we had our very first International Night.
The idea is to celebrate and honor the nations and in particular the nations, the diversity that is represented among us as staff and students. It was a blast.
Everyone brought different dishes from their native country or some of our American friends brought something typical from their State/ region.
So cool!
We had 'representatives' from Colombia, DR, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Nigeria, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, South Korea, Taiwan, England, Scotland, Australia, Canada and Germany (myself).
I am telling you this really blessed my heart! It just reminded me how much I really love the NATIONS!!! The diversity in which God has created us!

Here is one of my favorite TobyMac songs that expresses exactly that:
"Diverse City"

They call us Diverse City, we're colorful good
It's like a freak show in your neighborhood
So, if you wanna praise you can come on down
Cause this freak show's leaving the ground

Up, up and away, baby we don't play, maybe you thought you was done for the day
He said, she said, I said this, that you can't get away from your moment of bliss
Stirring, we'll lure you in and we'll make room for the shade of skin
Short ones, tall ones, skinny ones, bigger, love is the gun and we pullin' that trigger
So you send me and I'll send you hope in the form of a new tattoo
Mine is the shiny city on a hill and yours, of course, is the colors that fill it
We'll take you high, we'll take you higher

Now come to the city where you can praise
If you're black, if you're white, if you're yellow or grey
In the morning, in the night, anytime of day
What's that place - Diverse City
With curls in your hair and braids on the side
Straight shake'em loose, just come on and ride
We're a body with parts, like you and me
Together we make diversity

Welcome to Diverse City, we're colorful good
It's like a freak show in your neighborhood
So, if you wanna praise you can come on down
Cause this freak show's leaving the ground

Said we're Diverse City, we're colorful goods
It's just a state of mind, we gonna shine the way that we should, baby
So, if you wanna praise you can come on down
Cause this freak show's leaving the ground

You bring the heart, I'll bring the soul
I'll bring the flag, you bring the pole
We'll fly it high so the whole world knows
The dream of a king 'bout to unfold

We 'bout to do this thing for real
Diverse City got mass appeal
So put your hand in the hand of mine
And we'll spread this love like dandelions

week 10 - DNA and values

of Youth with a Mission. It's been very good so far, you know, just being reminded of where we come from as a mission, the heritage we have and to hear some of the countless amazing stories of miracles we have seen God work in our midst. So here are some of our values just to give you a little insight on what we are about:
Know God
Make God known
Hear God's voice
Practice worship and intercessory prayer
be visionary
Champion young people
be broad-structured and decentralized
be international and interdenominational
Biblical Christian Worldview
function in teams
servant leadership
do first, then teach
relationship-oriented
value the individual
value family
relationship-based support
practice hospitality

Love from rainy/stormy Orlando
